February 14th's Wall Street Journal has an article (Page D1) about the greatly varying survival rates for cardiac-arrest patients taken to hospitals after being treated by emergency responders in the field. They range from a low of 3% in Alabama to over 16% in Seattle. What is the rate in Montreal? Is it better than the average rate in Canada? Do Montreal ambulances carry the equipment critical to improving the odds of survival (e.g. mechanical CPR machines, ventilation facemasks, ultrasound, etc)?
How do Mtl's first responders rate in terms of saving cardiac patients' lives?
