When will Montrealers get compost pick-up?

I was quite surprised to learn that a number of areas -- Plateau-Mont-Royal, Rosemont, Côte-Saint-Luc, Pointe-Claire, Westmount, Verdun and now Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie -- have brown bin (kitchen waste) collection. I'd like to hear from people living in these areas: how long has the service been available, and how is it working so far?

I'd also like to know when this service will be offered in my area (CDN-NDG) and the rest of the island. Has the City begun building the new composting facilities/biogas plants announced a while back? Meanwhile, where is everything getting composted? Finally, once the City's service is extended to all areas, what will happen to Compost Montreal?

Public hearings on proposed sites for four new green-waste treatment plants on the island of Montreal will take place in November and December. More info on the website of the Office de consultation publique de Montreal.
