Push for open data in Quebec gets stronger
Following the success of websites Montréal Ouvert, Gatineau Ouvert and Capitale Ouvert, a new website has been launched to promote and encourage the government of Quebec to provide open data to citizens.
Québec Ouvert will hold its first public meeting on Mar. 22.
“Open data includes all the information produced by government institutions provided it’s not registered. The data often already exists within the information systems of institutions but are not accessible to citizens … A policy of open date takes all the available information in a standard and open format under a non-restrictive license, in a single site.”
In other open data news, the McGill University Health Centre has announced it is releasing more data about “the type and severity of incidents and accidents reported at its hospitals.”
Additional data from the past two years (2008-09, 2009-10) is available on a dedicated site.
