Habs' Gomez: "I want to score as much as anyone"
One year has come and gone and Montreal Canadiens forward Scott Gomez is still without a goal.
The centre is costing the Canadiens’ $7.5 million and so far this season, he has a total of seven assists.
On Sunday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets, it almost looked as if Gomez had broken his drought, with only eight minutes left before his one-year anniversary. Puck Daddy's Harrison Mooney writes:
“Midway through the second period versus the Winnipeg Jets, Gomez acted as the net presence on a Canadiens' powerplay, and when the puck got past Ondrej Pavelec, there was some debate over whether it had touched Gomez on the way through… Unfortunately, after an unnaturally long review – clearly, the officials wanted to make especially sure they got this one right – the goal was awarded to Tomas Plekanec.”
When it comes to hockey-crazed Montreal, there was no way Gomez would have gotten away without commenting on his one-year anniversary. Habs’ feature reporter Dave Stubbs got him to say just a few words.

Trust me, I want to score as much as anyone. But I’m dead serious about this – if it took me not scoring for two years for us to win in Montreal, I’d take it. | — Scott Gomez (Montreal Gazette) |
