Bye-bye Cyberpresse, hello lapresse.ca.

Bye-bye Cyberpresse, hello lapresse.ca.

If you are a frequent visitor to La Presse’s cyberpresse.ca website, you were probably surprised this morning to find the site is now lapresse.ca. A two-page spread on the inside cover of today’s newspaper (see below) shows those who still get their news from the print product just what changes have been made – including a new layout, a renamed mobile app and a universal new logo. Publisher Guy Crevier explained the decisions behind these changes in today's paper:

“For every communication group, it is important to have a strong and unified brand. It is therefore natural for us to build on the La Presse brand as a brand of the future and make it present in all our distribution platforms to offer more coherence and simplicity.” (Translation)

Why was the site originally called Cyberpresse? OpenFile Montreal took to Twitter to ask La Presse columnist Patrick Lagacé that exact question.
